Sean Makes Noise

Sean, a music loving, music playing, sometimes wise ass kid from New York fills you in on his life and other things you're not interested in. It's like a reality TV show...you hate it but you can't stay away from it.

Adios, Nueva York. Hola, South Carolina

That's all I remember how to say in Spanish, by the way.

My little band (and my family) has recently relocated to the Lowcountry of South Carolina, in Charleston. I couldn't be happier about this move, as the music scene where we were in NY has turned out to not be the best place for the kind of music we play and what we do. Playing in SC and surrounding areas is always exciting for us, so I know this move will be a good one. At the end of this month we're playing with Shawn Mullins, Danielle Howle, the Occasional Milkshake, and more at Awendaw Green in Awendaw, SC on the 29th. That should be, as the kids say, hella fun.

We did play a really enjoyable going away show at the New Rose in Walden last Friday to a fairly packed room, and although it was a bittersweet goodbye, we went out with a bang for sure.

The new AFT record is coming along. My musical sister badass rock chick friend Danielle Howle is producing, and the bulk of the work is being done at Awendaw Green in Awendaw, SC. There'll be some cool guests this time around. Our friend Amy Ray from the Indigo Girls lent her incredible talents to two songs, and we were happy and honored to have her a part of it. Also returning to kick some musical guest ass are Susan Cowsill and Peter Holsapple. It'll be a great one, folks. Trust me when I say that.

Catch ya later.

I'm Back...I hope...

Hey y'all, I'm back from a long blogging hiatus that had no purpose whatsoever. I simply put the blogging on the back burner is all. But lots of exciting things are happening with me and my musical life, so I'm going to start this little thing up again. Look for more posts soon.

Long time, no blog...

It's been awhile, folks! I've been away making the rounds down south, playing some fine music with a fine band. I will be back in full force soon. After all, there's never nothing to blog about.

Until then, stay well.

Updates, Updates, Updates...Kind Of.

Hey there.

I know I haven't posted lately, but I've been awfully busy writing songs, writing an album review (of the new Prince record, which I'm still finishing) writing a novel that seems to have stalled in progress right now, and just writing a lot in general. I recently completed my course for the Audio Institute of America, and I've graduated and am now certified in sound engineering and music production. It's pretty awesome!

The anticipation of traveling with the band in a few weeks is killing me. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself these days! First New Orleans, then Memphis, then Pembroke, then some stops in South Carolina including my favorite place on earth, Awendaw Green. I'll be documenting the entire trip here on my blog as well as through my band's myspace and website.

That's all for now!

A band you need to listen to....

Hey there.

Just a quick plug for a great band that you must check out if you've never heard them, or haven't heard them in a while...

Virginia Coalition
is a band I first heard a while ago thanks to Handpicked Records, the great pair of compilations released by Hootie and the Blowfish that showcased relatively unknown or little known talent. VACO blew me away the first time I heard them and yesterday I began listening to them again. I was once again blown away by the songwriting, the powerful vocals, and this overall incredible band. Their latest release Home This Year may be their best work yet, and it's well worth checking out.

You won't regret heading over to their site and listening to their new record, trust me.

Happy easter to all!

AFT Harps and Whistles all night long this Friday

If you're in the area, please do try and come out to the Harp & Whistle Pub in Newburgh, NY this Friday, April 10th. My band A Fragile Tomorrow will be playing and it's going to be an all night rock and roll party that you should not miss. We understand that you have bills to pay and Bernie Madoff took all your money, so this show is free of charge. That's right...free. of. charge.

3 hours of music for absolutely nothing?!? I know, I know.

You can thank us later.
