Six World-A Concept....EP?

Why the hell would I write a concept album?

I asked myself that question a few days ago and pondered the possible answers. "Well, because it would be a new creative direction for me and would probably help to limit the amount of writer's block I usually get after finishing AFT records". Blah blah blah.

Yea, that's a good answer, but the truth is...I just want to. Not for any greater purpose then to try something new and keep my relatively boring life outside of AFT somewhat interesting. So when the idea first popped into my head shortly after recording wrapped for the last AFT album, I kind of dismissed it because I thought I'd never find the right time to do something like that. But I think now's the time. I've written 16 songs for AFT and I don't feel like taking a break from writing is the most wise thing to do right now, so why not do something a bit challenging? It's worth a shot.

I decided I'm going to write it in a different way too. I'm literally going to start ProTools sessions for it with absolutely nothing...no lyrics, no music. Just the concept and various details I need to write the songs. I'll hook up an amp and some effects and just play until I get something that fits. I'll record the music in it's entirety and then write the lyrics. Drums and percussion will be played by Shaun Rhoades, but everything else will be done by yours truly.

I'm also going to video tape the whole entire process for your viewing pleasure some time in the future.

AND...to top it all off...I'm going to make it available on the good old internet once it's complete...for absolutely no charge.

I'm excited.
